Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) are critical components of Shepherd Mission's initiatives in West Pokot County, Kenya. As a dedicated Community Based Organization, our organization has been actively enhancing the dignity and potential of vulnerable communities by addressing fundamental needs. Access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities are essential for preventing diseases and promoting health, particularly in the arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL). Our programs not only provide immediate relief but also lay the groundwork for long-term health and prosperity by ensuring that communities have reliable access to clean water and hygienic living conditions.
The organization’s comprehensive approach to WASH involves capacity building, advocacy for social justice, and direct support to the most vulnerable populations. Shepherd Mission’s efforts in WASH are integral to its broader objectives of food security, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability. By enhancing water infrastructure, promoting hygienic practices, and ensuring adequate sanitation, Shepherd Mission helps mitigate the impacts of climate change and supports peace-building efforts by reducing conflicts over scarce water resources. Their initiatives contribute significantly to the sustainable use of natural resources, thus fostering a dignified and noble living for the people of West Pokot. Through these concerted efforts, Shepherd Mission demonstrates God’s compassion and dedication to improving the livelihoods of those most in need.
